You want to be an audio engineer right? It's a small communty, and people talk to one another. People check around before hiring assistants. If you're going to be a dick to people, ask yourself why you aren't being hired.

I give up

This is too funny. I am not a dick. I was the treated like shit right from the start. Granted it was only from Sjoko and a couple of buds. Look at the very first couple posts I made and see their replies.

I have worked as a audio eng. I should have never posted that on RO. I had a wild hair up my ass. When the time comes I will go back to LA and get a job. My credentials are fine, I have contacts, I am not worried. Jeez!! I was maybe thinking of another local maybe.

As far as my attitude I am not more of a dickhead than many eng around. Frankly I like eng and producers who say it like it is. I hate the sugar coating. I do believe in mutual respect and not judging people on the fly. I was dissed and defended myself and caught shit for it. What the hell. What a joke.

I admitted I stooped when I saw how Sjoko behaves on other BBS. It is not right for him to belittle people here. Granted he does somtimes give good advice but most of the time he gives it with a smart ass tone. Nobody here deserves that.

All you have to do is look at the history of my posts vs his and you will see where I am coming from. I don't need his respect and I am not trying to get it. I am just pointing out some pretty poor judgement on his part. That set the tone for this crap. It is over I will help here were I can and have the time. I am not afraid to admitt that on RO I can not be as much help to as many people. I also don't have the budget for alot of the gear they discuss. Shoot me.

I hope this shit is finished. Lets get back to recording.

Good idea - and leave judgements about me to people who know me and work with me perhaps?

"It is over I will help here were I can and have the time. I am not afraid to admitt that on RO I can not be as much help to as many people. I also don't have the budget for alot of the gear they discuss."

Cool. And NO SHIT!! :) Some of those guys on RO are WAY over my head...

Hope you are not pissed for me posting your link from RO. Probably shouldn't have done that...not too cool of ME. Personally I saw nothing wrong with your RO post. If I were qualified enough I may have posted something to that effect.

Peace!!

NWsoundman...you said it right.

I have worked with "pros" enough to say that 95% of engineers are close to the opposite of Sjokos attitude. It's the 30-year wanna-bes like Sjoko who slam other professionals (i.e. Jazar) with legitimate credits and then hide behind the illisuion that they dont like all the publicity. What a joke. Of course his excuse for being on the forum so much is that he is in the process of building new mastering facilities. Look at the number of his replies. It must have taken a long time to build that new studio. Now that it is completed, does that mean he won't flaunt his cocky attitude anymore? He likes being here for a reason and it's not just to contribute good advice.

Sjoko....maybe you should take some lessons from that soft spoken guy at Masterfonics.....ask for Glen Meadows. Or better yet check out Artistpro.com where guys like myself had received lots of good advice from Mr. Meadows without ANY cocky ego, attitude, personal opinion or invisible list of credits.

I'm sure, just like last time, Sjoko groupies will come to his rescue. They will use real ugly words and then proclaim how since I'm a "newbie" I dont know what I'm talking about. Word to the wise...."newbie" doesnt mean they are any less knowledgable than Sjoko. For some it means they dont have time to respond to endless posts. Watch out NW soundman....you just got promoted!!! I think that means it's time to get back to making music. Probalby good for you to do that becasue a Sjoko groupie might call the internet police.

And Sokjo...it's not your knowledge, it's your attutude. Feel free to read that post again regarding recording levels.

This is NOT a rescue...

It is a request for clarity...

"He (Sjoko) likes being here for a reason and it's not just to contribute good advice. "

OK...you mind explaining what that reason is?

Actually...don't bother. It seems Sjoko and NW have agreed to disagee and end it all. What else is there to say?

Well Sjoko...we both have something in common...

...can't spell (DISAGEE or LITLE)

That's IT!! I'm FED UP!! I'm Calling the INTIRNET SPELLIN POLEICE!!!!!

:p

LOL hey! I've worked from 7 this morning! And I've got another 3 hours to do. Just always take 5 to 10 mins per hour to give my ears a rest.

ehhhh ever considered that I know people here by their nicknames, and some (most of you) have send my material to be mastered with your real names on it?
Its like a puzzle. Some people I can match up to their address, others don't have an address...............
So to answer your question - I don't friggin know!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D

For fear of burning my bridges and actually really hoping of getting some positive advice/feedback, I might mention that the CDr I sent had my name, my email address (mixmkr@aol.com....kinda similiar to MixMkr...huh?), phone number, mailing address...all RIGHT ON the CD. I also emailed, but got no response. Admittedly, it puts a bit of apprehension to send you $250...or whatever the original offer was (as generous as it actually sounds too), because of the lack of communication. I hope that things work out, and you'll find the time and listen to what I sent, and get back to me with your suggestions, comments...or whatever, before you proceed to master them. But as an internet client, I am just offering you this bit of feedback, and the feelings I am getting, and the credibility/reliability of working professionally with you. People tell me that; " if it sounds to go to be true, than it probably is"...or "you get what you pay for." Prove those theories wrong and let me know what is happening on your end with a response other than; "I don't friggin know!!!....:D :D :D"
Looking forward to working with you....
thanks,
Chris Harwood (Mixmkr)

and then of cause, there was Brainbox and Cuby and the Blizzards, you don't wanna shoot them!

sjoko2 can't be a prick here!

I am the prick around here, and I will fight to keep that title!!! ;)

I love how some people talk about how they are "not worried" about getting work, and their "connections", and "credentials", yet don't HAVE work! I have never asked for work on a BBS before. I let EXAMPLES of my work bring business and opportunities to me. And it does!

I'll vouch for that!

I'm a prick-in-training and Ed's my mentor...

Sjoko, on the other hand, hasn't taught me anything at all about being a prick! (thanks for nothing sjoko!) ;)

:D :D

Ed...prick??? Naaaaahhhhh...

"I am the prick around here, and I will fight to keep that title!!! "

Actually - now that I think about it - you are a prick on Audioforum.com as well!! ;)

I guess that's kinda like holding two title belts for a boxer...one in each affiliation!! hehe...

OK Ed...haven't seen you post on RO.org yet. Are you UP for the unprecidented TRIPLE title!!??!! :D

Hey stop it! None of you guys are pricks. Ask yourself these questions:

A. Do I enjoy throwing attitude and belittling anyone who doesn't reply to a post on a daily basis, or have as much equipment as me?

B. Do I constantly have to explain that the only reason I'm here is because my ears need a break or I'm building a new studio? Otherwise I could be charging over a thousand dollars an hour for my skills and then Mairah Careys Glitter CD would have sold an additional million units? Oh the humanity!

C. Do I (and yes its a quote) “Criticizes and correct other people's work, total disregard for their thoughts”.

D. Do I use the copy and paste function of another engineer writings and claim the advice as my own? And then erase my reply when it's discovered they are the words of someone else?

E. Do I flaunt my ego by stating how much I charge a client and that I've been making records that sell by major "pro" acts for the last 30 years?

F. If "yes" to question "E" do I then tell everyone I'm just too shy to list them and I already have too many groupies?

G. Do I have a fan club full of groupies more rabid than an old Duranie who flings out nasty names because they are frightened the Master will not post his thoughts here anymore simply because some people question his reasoning or like to verify his credentials..... especially in a public forum?

You guys might need to go to prick school. But in the meantime I still enjoy receiving good advise on things I dont know much about.

Bastards!!! Finally I think I'm good at being an asswipe and you even deny me that glory!! Its not fair! Cruel world!!

Oh greggy, bud, can you recommend a teacher in soft-spokenness?? I think I'm booming, am I booming? To much low end and compression. I'll make an adjustment. Perhaps you could do the same with your wind? Turn it down already!

I'll see if I can find you a good teacher for reading. Oh wait, reading might be ok, but the preception and understanding is somewhat lacking - which needs intelligence. Brain transplant?
"Slamming other professionals"?? Get it straight. You posted an article, I pointed out some items in the article which were fundamentally wrong. I also pointed out that it must have been written quite a while ago, when understanding of such things was not common knowledge.
Ever considered that our profession makes for a small world where people know each other, talk and meet at conventions and shows? So while you are getting all hot and bothered, us "pro's", as you call us, get on very well, thank you.

Can I be asswipe major now Sonus and Bear? Just for a day? Please?
