If anyone is interested... After reviewing the specs between the Marshall V67 and 2001, and not finding anything different (even weight) between the two, I emailed and asked them about the actual differences. It appears that the primary difference is cosmetic, and the guy said that the grill has an effect on upper frequencies. Maybe appearance DOES make you think something sounds better, because the review I read made the two out to be worlds apart. Hmmmm....
Still looking for another review on these Marshalls if anyone has any of them!
Peace.

I just ordered a v67, I'll post a review and/or some samples after I get it and have a chance to screw around with it for a little while..

More info...

I've since unearthed more info on these mics... turns out they MAY have a different transformer in them. Seems that everyone likes them alot on other boards, the same people that have a 2001 and DONT like the 2001 love the v67. I'm buying one, at least I can look at it if it sucks!
*Hey Broken... did you order the gold topped one, the black one, or the silver one? The silver/blue one looks nice, I may go with that one.

I got the green/gold one...I found it on ebay for $200 w/ a shockmount and cable, and couldn't pass it up :) I think it looks pretty damn cool anyways :)

Yeah, there's a company, Abe Music, (Abe's?) that sells them for $200 on their website with a shock mount and free UPS shipping. They've been going for around $180 from the same company on eBay, it looks like.

They are one of the nicer mics in the budget range. Far less hyped and scooped sounding than the Rode mics, much better than the AKG 3000. They have a lot of proximity effect to them that is noticible for quite a distance. The tube version (57?) is supposed to be pretty nice too.
