I bought the black one from Mars. I like it. I saw one of the green ones yesterday. I like my black one better than the green and gold.

Price match

If anyone isn't picking up the v67m at mars because they're not sure if it's different from the typical gold v67.

Call sam ash and they'll price match the $149, just tell them the only difference is black and with a little coaxing they'll break and give in.

Mine's on the way.

~Brandon

oh yeah...free shipping and shock mount

Thanks Brandon

Hope Alan Hyatt doesn't read this...

Just ordered my v67 from Sam Ash with a shock mount and shipping for $149 (SM is $50 at Mars). Might be too early to post this but I was pleased with the service I got from Sam Ash. Spoke to Jeff at 1-800 4 SAM ASH, ext. 2292. Acted like a real person and not a sales robot.

If I have any problems with shipping or the delivered goods, I'll let you know, otherwise I'll b e playing with my new mic!

Now I guess I really do need a good preamp!

He's pretty good about letting you buy other people's products if it's what you really want to do. :D

I bought one at mars the other day for 110. It was a demo, so no box, but...

I emaild MXL, and they said that internally, the only differance was the mars one was wired with mogami....But the windscreen was differant on the gold one, so it sounded better...Yeah right.

Are you implying that the screen does not have an effect on the sound of the mic?

no, just that it being gold doesnt. Its the same screen.

Psst....comear,kid...

I asked a sales person at Mars this evening what the V67 costs, and he dutifully went to his screen and came back to announce $89.99. Apparently it's on sale. It was closing time so I couldn't hear it but I will soon.

why not just buy the black model if you dont like the gold ? im sure i saw them in black hope im right on this ?

But i am sure someone will correct me if im not :-)

Marshall has a V93M that is selling for $199 at Marsmusic.com. I wonder if that's the V67 mic with a bass roll-off and -10 pad ? The price of the V67 doesn't look like it includes the $50 shockmount.

VIRTUAL.RAY!

Is that price true? Or are you trying to get a run going on those mics? I called Mars On-Line and they said that may be the price for a refurb.

The salesguy also said that if I could get details I could ask for a price match...

Got any? 'Cause if I can get that price... That mic is MINE!

Thanks...

Yeah, the gold is a little shiney, but most studios I've been in during tracking have the lights down pretty low -- and guess what? -- the shiney gold looks a lot more refined under sexy dim light. Of course, if the lighting gets too dim and too sexy, certain clients might think it looks like a ... a-hem ... well, I won't go there.

I sure like mine, though . . . er V67G, that is. ;)

Zeke was being facetious. That's why we get to use happy faces in our postings.

Psychoacoustically, color DOES make a difference in the perception of the sound coming from speakers. Astonishing, completely illogical, but true. We're funny creatures.

I'm so awed by the C12VR that I thought the green and gold color scheme looked cool -- I'm sorry (or is that "glad"?) to hear that it doesn't look classy. So the Mars deal really is great.

Full Compass is another company with enough volume to commission special editions of mics, making them available for less than the generically available version.

I'm (finally!) ready to order a V67 today or tomorrow. If I'm reading this thread right, the V67G and V67M are identical sonically, the only difference being the color and a "mogami" sticker. But what I'm still not sure about is whether or not the Mars mic comes with the shockmount or not. Does it? And if not, how much will I have to pay for the shockmount? 8th street sells the V67 WITH shockmount for 219.00, and I like dealing with them....so if it comes out about the same, I'd probably go with them. Anybody know the answer to the shockmount question?

Thanks,

Chris

Mars ad says, "Comes complete with a screw-on mic stand adapter. "

The MXL-57 shockmount is listed separately for $49.95 (do a search for MXL-57).

Congratulations! Be sure to let us know about your experience with the mic.

The Mars V67 does not come with a shock mount. It comes with a screw on clip. One end screws onto the mic and the other end screws on to the stand. It's better then the standard mic clip, but it is not a shock mount.

If I were you I would allow in the budget to buy a shock mount (Or buy from 8th Street).

I bought two from Mars (no shock mounts) for drum over heads and it turns out they are decent vocal mics as well.

$149

Got my v67 with shock mount for $149 from Sam Ash, including shipping. If you're interested do a search for my name and find the post where I list the rep I spoke to at SA. Nice guy, knew what he was talking about.
