Hey Harvey,

Any chance you've been getting my emails or PMs?
I don't think I've seen any email. I usually respond to emails the same day I get them. I haven't seen any PMs pop up here so I don't know. I'll go look (as soon as I figure out where to go look).

Dumb, Dumber, and Me

Hey Maston, you still hanging around?

You would not believe the dopey, and I mean dopey thing I did. I was messin around with the mic after work yesterday and popped the body apart to look for a bass roll off switch, (it doesn't have one by the way.) Well, anyhow, this thing comes apart kinda weird and I never could get to the actual capsule. I don't know if it was just on that darn tight or if the head's not meant to come off or what but I couldn't get to it. I could get the body of it apart though. Somehow I managed to turn the capsule around so that it was poking out toward the back off the mic body. Don't ask me how.

Anyway, I laid it down afterward and came in tonight to record a demo for you with it and never could get the thing to sound good! Man, I messed with it for at least 2 hours and was always unhappy with the sound. Then I pooped the Mic stand up to do a vocal and I tried talking off-center toward the side and noticed it sounded better that way. Then I walked around behind it and whoa! All the sudden this this sounds great again just like when I first brought it home. That's when it hit me--I managed to screw the capsule/diaphram around backwards!

I've been dope-slappin myself silly for the last half hour. Anyhow...I'll keep crackin and try to get that sample up tonight yet.

If dumb and dumber are lookin tp get a third guy for their act, I'm available....dumbest here.

Nady Cheapos

I've got a couple of Nady cheapos, and have been pretty happy with them as drum overheads. I haul them out when doing live recording and when I don't want to fret too much about the fear of mic theft. Also, say whatever you want about the origin of the capsules, but the body of these mics is mongo-solid. They could come in handy in a bar fight.

You can hear a live recording with the Nady overheads at:

Wow, this thread is still going. Can't remember what the original question was. Something about microphones.
Hey, Windowman, you be careful with your new mics. You didn't mention what the mic was though. I'll give your mic test a listen later.
Back to soundcards. How can you use both sets of drivers (ASIO and Soundblaster) and switch between them like u said. I tried doing it by setting up different hardware profiles, but when I changed the drivers in one profile it changed them in the other too, and then it got all messy and nasty and I had to mess around for ages to get it all working again.

cheers
Maston
