If you're dealing with a Suge, you might be dealing with the wrong kinds of folks. Suge ran Death Row Records by fear. Why did people stay so long? It's a two parter....the money was good for the time being and they were afraid of the man who could easily kill them and more than likely get away with it.
It's almost like being in the Mafia. You make wrong choices and piss the Don off, best believe you're getting what's coming to you (ok maybe I've been playing too much GTA as of late, but the same thing fits).
So what do you do when you're in that situo? You play your cards right and be aware of each and every opportunity to get out of it and still hold your own. Leave on good terms if you can and just remember that money's not everything...it can be nice, but if you're only playing the role of the puppet and your pockets still stay thin when you do most of the work, that's called getting screwed. From the sounds of it, it seems like you might be regretting the decision that you made recently. Hopefully that's not the case and all's good in your world homie.
I've been in situations where I've been offered deals for my services. A few years ago, I had a friend who tried to hook me up with a new studio in Manhattan that his friend was going to own (never heard about it). The guy offers me 50k to start, but turned the deal down when I started asking about royalties, moving costs, and keeping beats I already made as my own. They wanted EVERYTHING and was only willing to give me 20% of the cut of beats I made 100% (and this is with underground cats who might or might not sell). I know 50k can keep you living half-ass in Manhattan, but in the end I know if I took that deal, I'd get screwed
You have to know what questions to ask and how to avoid getting screwed (as best as you can) and not just jump for something because the shit sounds good.
