Recorded a song for my friend, it's an awkward speed (70bpm) but is too slow to make 140 bpm.

Some bars are in 6/4 as opposed to 4/4 but I've just taken them as a 2/4 bar and added a fill in.
Any ideas on how to make it more interesting would be great.

Does it just need more cymbal hits etc?
Normally I'm fine with this :(

This is the song here
.

It's part of an EP featuring these 2 songs

If you're looking for an idea of how the rest of his stuff sounds.

It's a sparse and boring song. Don't overdrum it. The drums seem fine to me. Maybe more ghost notes and light accents, but don't go trying to add fills and shit. Maybe drop the drums out in spots, like at 1:51, and come back in on the downbeat.

Good idea at the 1:51 bit, just do a cymbal hit and let it ring for the rest of the bar then a small fill to bring them back in etc?

Sure, something like that. Not even a fill, just come back into your regular pattern.

I'd suggest using the toms just a little more. Might spice it up a bit.

Ghost notes I think would definitely help.

Listening to this song, I didn't think the drums were supposed to stand out. I thought ya did a fine job of playing. Snare needs a bit of compression because of the uneven hits here and there, but I wouldn't change much. Maybe a few ghost notes here and there, but nothing crazy.

Definitely sounds better, man. Good use of the side-stick. Fits great.

Mix one sounded very muddy until the vocals came in to take some top end.
Too much drum for me.
Still sounds a bit muddy except for the vox.
Interesting choice of instruments.

Yeah I'm going to add an electric guitar part up high and get a real bass to do the bass part to take away some of the 'mud'
