What's up guys,
Once again, it's the newbie Jin and well, I got another question for you guys. What do I need to make beats? Do all I need is just a keyboard? Or like what. Because I've found out all the equipment for recording, but not making beats. If anybody can suggest me some ideas, that would be great. And don't worry, it won't be 60 posts like last time. :) Thanks.

You need a looping program like Fruity Loops or Acid Pro.

you can do it in reaper with the piano roll if thats the DAW you are sticking with...you can either paint them in with a mouse or tap them in with a keyboard....

another option is to get a pad controller...i use an mpd24, was pretty cheap used...but korg and akai both have small cheaper versions that are portable and are fine as well..

m audio's axiom has keys and pads...and these are always up for sale somewhere..Ive used and axiom 25 and the PCR, it has smaller pads but they work just as well plus it has faders even on the smaller keyboard...

there are loads of free samples to use out there...two of the best are Goldbaby which has outstanding freebie TR 606 tape saturated samples and Wave Alchemy which has some kick samples for free :)

Again KC to the rescue.
Man you are like a super hero or something.:D

Oh yeah ....the kind you can twirl above you head to attract the gals.
Then belt it up side the heads of your foes on the battlefield.

I just use a keyboard and play them. I've tried drum pads, a Kat controller, step writing and pretty much everything but just playing them on a keyboard is what I like best.

I'm not big on drum loops, I like to custom make the drum track for each tune.

One of the main things is to play the track slower than it will be in the end, but that's a trade off that works sometimes and not others. If you really know what you want that works, but you have to be careful that the feel doesn't go out the window when you do that.

i feel guilty for clowning in the thread so heres some links to freebie software for drums...should get you started Jin :)

a good sequencer (and for free) is Hydrogen...meant for the Linux OS but seems to work solidly in Windows...
