Making Air Gap for Bass Traps

What did you put on the back of your bass traps to give them an air gap? I have been looking at a couple of different ways, but haven't found anything yet that visually satisfies me. Like PVC pipe and boards on the back are ok, but I think it's kind of ugly.

Do you mean corner bass traps? If so, just straddling the corner will give you the gap.

Oh oops no I meant ones just hanging on side walls. Yeah I'm good on the corners :)

I realized how stupidly obvious the answer to my question was after it was too late. Sorry.

What I did for my wall panels is hang them like a painting off of a really long screw, so that they hang loosely about 4 inches off the wall.

I have the same question. I've got 4 real traps that are hanging on side walls that I need to space. They have these tiny holes in the frames that I could probably utilize, just not sure how. I'll probably go to home depot and wing it somehow.

Chain is the only way. Looks cool and you can adjust and/or move.

I hung a few from the ceiling using heavy duty plastic ties. Sounds weird but those things are strong. The ones I used can hold up to 32 pounds.

Trying to figure out the best way to hang mine now. I was thinking about using some of the "decoupler" foam like you put under your monitors. Hang it like a picture then use a few pieces of that so that the trap is equal distance from the wall. Still no set plan yet just trying to work it out.

These are the anchors to use if hanging from drywall ceiling where joist is not present at desired location. Then screw in a 1/4" threaded Eye.

Another option would be to install 'L' brackets on the wall so that they hook at the top at the desired distance from the wall. At the bottom of the trap frame, you drill a couple of holes in which to insert dowel pins so that they hold the trap the desired distance from the wall.

Cheers,
John

Hmmm I really like that idea. I think I'm gonna have to with chain for now since I've got cinder block walls and an open ceiling but I will definitely keep this one in mind!
