alright, im currently in the market for studio equipment....but the problem is, i have no idea where to start, what to look for and what products are best. so, this is where yall come in.

i do hip hop music, and i got around $1000 dollars, budgets tight....so can sumone help me?

Hip hop, eh? Are you planning on recording your instruments or sequencing them on your computer?

There are many ways to go as far as software. I have mainly Cakewalk, so I think Home Studio (about $150) would cover your needs. The software depends a lot on wether you're going to be mainly sequencing or recording audio. If you're gonna be doing sequencing you'll want to spend some money getting realistic sounding instruments ($70+).

You are going to want a good professional sound card ($100+)

You are going to need a mixer or a preamp ($70+)

And a selection of mics depending on what you plan on recording ($???+)

You'll need to put a considerable amount of your money or resources into acoustically treating the room that you're planning on recording in. You'll need stands, cables, headphones, and possibly a headphone preamp.

The prices might be a little bit off.

iight, cool.......any suggestions on decent compressors and preamps?

hip hop..?

M-Audio Delta 410 $90
Get Propellerheads Reason .. around 400
A Small mixer around 100
keyboard .. I love my M-Audio Keystation 49e I just received :D it's 99
a condencer mic.. Marshall's go around 100
maybe a Shure SM57 for instruments 90
and cables..

Dunno exactly what you looking for but for a small home hip hop studio that would do it.
