Holy smokes! What a difference.

Good job with the do-over!

I did two lots of pore filler, sanded with 600 grit and then two coats of white shellac. Shellac seals the water based pore filler.

I am spending more time making a 'Martin' OM acoustic, but still trying to get the SG finished. You can see the acoustic (curly myrtle and engleman spruce)if you look at my photobucket account (check the pic's properties).

Wow, that's almost black chrome.
Does this mean Julia is out of favour?
A man with 2 projects! I can't even contemplate a 1st.

Thanks....

I am waiting on a buffing arbor from Stewmac to polish the SG (and OM) with. It is on backorder. The nitro is curing nicely whilst I wait.

I WILL keep you all up to date as things develop.

Buffer turned up...

I have attached a three phase motor and an inverter. 'Very' adjustable speeds:

All coming along. Pics to follow.

(Nearly) Finished

I have adjusted the action and it sounds terrific.

Need to cut the nut to length and spot glue it on.

Blemishes are finger marks.... It needs a rub.

My son has tested it for the 'Acka Dacka' sound with lots of distortion and it sounds 'spot on'. I have some minor finishing work (side dots for fretboard and a slight ding repair) and it will be all done.

I had to do some work to get the intonation right. DO NOT follow the plan I used. StewMac has a free online fret calculator that tells you where to mount the bridge etc for a hard tail. It is an excellent resource.

very nice sir. This is something I really want to do, unfortunately I don't have anywhere near the appropriate tools to do a build.

It sounds terrific....

I had to redo the bridge position to get the intonation totally correct. A real PITA.

Sounds totally correct for AC/DC with the Bareknuckle pickups.

I have moved on to acoustics and done a 30" electric Bass on commission.

Currently working on a Benedetto hollow body acoustic.

Bennedetto

Any in-progress shots of the Benedetto?
Check the properties on one of my pics andlook in my photobucket account.

I have been on Easter hols and did not get any more done this past week or so.

I am planning on using a CAD/CAM machine to do the top and bottom shaping. Should be fun to learn CAD.

Thanks -- lot of good looking projects on there. I'll be following the archtop in particular; hopefully there will be one of those in my future as well. That's certainly going to be a thin heel.

Yes, very thin heel, but that is what is spec'd.

I wanted to get a very good dovetail and went with 1/2 inch (at end of dovetail bit) and 14 degrees router bit. Bennedetto specifies 3/4 inch from memory.

I am also doing a very simple overall finish to remove opportunities to stuff it up ;-)
