Hey y'all, I'm editing this book, and there's a very odd sentence in here regarding the "recording of amplified sound" for electric basses. Here's what it says:
To record a "pure amplifier sound," the best option is a small (diaphram) mic, which should then be routed from the amp's "line out," "record out," or "direct out" over a direct injection (DI) box and directly to the mixer. This is the most common procedure.
Am I missing something, or does this just not make any sense at all? I wanted to check to make sure I'm not crazy before I contact the author.
Even if what he's saying is a "correct" method (I don't see how it could be), it certainly needs to be worded in a clearer way.
Any ideas?
Thanks
