Hello all ,i was hoping someone could help me with this problem.I am new at home recording using pro tracks .I recently purchased a used midi composer ,plug it into the soundcard ,and Boom!Ive lost all sound and the keyboard doesnt display on the screen .I keep getting the message *No midi output drivers are installed on windows.Anyways sorry if i sound like a moron,Im just starting out trying to teach myself and found this site.Any help in solving my little sound delimma would be greatly appreciated.Thanks..........nolajosh

My guess is that the card isnt configured right or is just set up as a game port.

You still need to hook up your audio outputs to something or there will be no audio.

Sounds like you need to install the midi drivers for your sound card. If it's a SoundBlaster go to the Creative Labs web site.

...

strange thing is Ive recorded before with no real problem ,only when i try to hook up this Midi Composer is when the sound went.I tried using gateway goback also with no luck.

Just with a soundcard connecting cable.I also am getting this message:The drivers for the PCI multimedia audio device are not installed (code 28).To reinstall driver click reinstall...after I tried that ,it said none could be found. What am i missing here?

Just so you understand - if you dont hook up any audio cables you will not hear anything. MIDI is not audio.

What is your sound card? I would reinstall the drivers.

If you have never used the midi port on your soundcard before, your computer may not have installed the drivers for the midi. Its usually a joystick port, right? Since you put a midi device on that port, the computer won't recognize it until you install the midi drivers for your soundcard.

Since your sound card doesn't know what to do with the new midi device, it may be panicing a bit and cutting out all audio. The first step is to try and install the midi drivers and see if that fixes the problem. They should be on the CD or disks that came with your soundcard or computer.

Good luck,
Chris

I tried all that and put in a system restoration cd and no go .All right ,,cant be too complex could it?

Also when i look under system properties>device manager>soundblaster Pro or Compatible...and click on ,the status says device is not present, not working properly or does not have all drivers installed (code 24)....Man What a Drag.

did i maybe blow up my driver somehow, possibly the midi composer is a lemon?

When I was installing the drivers for my midi interface I had to disable all the soundcards (control panel/system properties/device manager/sound video and game controllers/dbl click/general/check disable) Then I installed the midi drivers and then reenabled the soundcard and it worked.

Dude, are you actually reading anybodies replies or do you just like to ask the same question over and over.

REINSTALL THE DRIVERS FOR YOUR FREAKIN SOUND CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry for yelling.

ok.

You arent being clear about whether or not you reinstalled the drivers or telling us what the sound card is.

Dont bother with the CD that came with it. Go the sound card mfg's web site and download the latest drivers. Install those. Tell us if you did it. If it still doesnt work we will be happy to go from there.
