yes sacredhill i agree those shure mics are very valuable in the studio. I read in one of these posts that Bono of U2 sings thru an sm58 in the STUDIO!
This is what I've tried so far to kill some of the hat bleed on the snare track so that I could eq the snare properly: I tried a freebee Fraser plug in thats just a simple low pass eq filter. I performed an analysis on the offending hat frequency but soloing the hat track. It was like 7049 hz or something, so I typed in that amount on the low pass and let everything else pass. I was then able to pump the snare up a little while leaving the hat back. Cool! Now I can eq the crap out of the snare and it should work.
I tried reverse phasing the hat and it didnt seem to have much effect at all.
