Hey guys,
I'm desperate for help.any help...
OK,I have an ACER aspire.I'm running Vista 32 bit OS.And Cubase SX3.I've recently for the last month been having bizarre things happening. For one,I'm getting these strange pops and static in my recordings. Now this has happened the whole year I've had this setup, but now it's in the mixdowns. It used to be only a thing that my band heard while recording.(We blamed it on the cheap as Phonic interface, but now I'm using a nicer M-Audio one so....).
Perhaps related is the bizarre CPU spikes that I'm getting now.
When this happens every thing sounds like the 'time stretch' effect and it sucks.
I cannot figure out any difference in the last month.I defragged and it didn't help.
I have 2 GB of Ram.
Thanks so much...help is totally needed because I'm actually getting some production gigs and I can't mess up with half ass mixdowns right now.

I think so,but it's been over a year since the original install.I haven't updated it,but didn't even consider it as a source of the issue....
Could you be so kind as to explain what that has to do with anything?(I'm not very technical...)

Well, dongle software has a phone home algorithm built into it which checks the current driver state of the hardware compared to a known list of pirated software versions no longer being updated so if you are running an "old" version of cubase that was bootlegged, then it wont run correctly
