Sounded fine here... but with just piano and vocals, there's not much that could go wrong, you know?

heh, you'd be surprised! i am notorious for making simple tracks sound like crap lol. but now you made me feel bad cause i spent like a good hour trying to get it to sound "just right".

Sorry. I'm used to working with lots of instruments... very, very few soft and empty moments like this in my own stuff.

i didn't remix the composition, i remixed the tracks. that is, i played around with different sounds and keyboard effects, etc.
and how does this sound like the original when I covered the cover that was put together by Michael Andrews?

i think the thing that i'm finding with these is that they're not really offering anything. by using the same vocal track you're limiting the ability to branch off and be creative with the song. are you playing with a midi controller or programming in all the keys?
you should try re-recording the vocals. creative liberties can be alot of fun with cover songs. and i know, you're just remixing, but at least for me i can say with most remixes i'd rather listen to the original. but that's just me. for instance i like the gary jules version of this song better than the tears for fears version because him and michael andrews really took the song in a different direction and made it almost a completely new song. i dig it.

I agree. I will try recording the vox myself, and giving it my own spin. Yes, I programmed the keys in Reason.
