I just picked up a good used Roland VS-880. I also own a Mackie 1604 VLZ Pro and want to take advantage of the Mackie mic preamps. Given that the VS-880 has it's own mic pres, is it reasonable to run through the 1604 and into an input on the VS-880? Or does this approach mess with the signal path? Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks....Keith.

SURE......

Just keep the trim nobs turned all the way down on the 880.

I always use my outboard pres and mixer to input into my VS880Vx.

The pres on the 880 are pretty harsh.

Thanks for the response, Mike. So, if I understand correctly, you get an optimal input signal on the outboard mixer channel, then use the outboard mixer's output level to obtain an optimal input signal for the 880 channel, leaving the 880's trim all the way down? Thanks again.
