Tyler, oh Tyler...
Firstly, 824s and the Sub will be a motherfucker to get good sound with. Since you think I'm so damn funny, figure out why for yourelf.
Secondly, this is REALLY fucking funny:
"624's were supposes to be cheaper for people who aren't rich, or for rich people to use as rear channels. Cutting the price by 100 bucks each doesn't really make them ideal. And for rears I'd still use the 824's anyway."
It's clear you don't know dick about what you're asking, which is fine, but don't let your excusable ignorance turn into inexcusable back-biting. Besides, if a salesrep or somebody has told you what you said above, then you need to study something else besides studio engineering, etc., like how to develop a nose for bullshit.
Thirdly, I was trying to help your ass, just like people have helped me. If you're to big or bright to:
a) listen/read with a critical eye/ear
b) take everything from everyone with an intelligent grain of salt
c) not laugh at strangers who offer up their opinions as a result of YOUR questions
d) realize that if you're willing to spend up to 3 grand on nearfields, that your options are far greater fiscally than that of 824s plus a sub
then you shouldn't be asking shit.
Funny how so many people who claim to have "reasonable" resources always start at the lower end of product when it comes to what to buy.
Funny how you went from this
"...So, what I would like to know is whether its worth it to spend the extra 200 or so bucks on the 824s or just buy the 624's. Either way it burns a HUGE hole in my 15 year old pocketbook, and I figure, if i'm gonna go BIG, should I go all the way?"
To this
"...wouldnt it be better to spend the extra 300 on the hr824's and the sub instead of buying the crappy ones and a sub?...money isn't an object, but not that far.
It's ok to be a boy (or a man, or a woman, or whatever) and it's ok to have to ask, but it's not ok to be a stupid little boy (or a man, or a woman, or whatever) showing his ass. Good luck in your search.
