Are you saying that the channnel inserts can be used as "outs"? I have a Behringer 2004A mixer with 8 channel inserts but I thought these were basically to run effects through. Been trying to figure out a way to isolate tracks without getting more expensive equipment. The 2004A has only one stereo L/R out and an ALT 3/4 out.

This is true for Mackie mixers. I'm not sure if the same applies to Behringers or others. However, it can't hurt to try.

To put it simply: The Delta 66 has FOUR analog inputs.
Four, 4, IV

Look at your card break out box. See the eight 1/4" jacks? Four of those are your analog inputs. You can record four signals at a time using those four analog inputs.

Now regarding the other two inputs, look at your card. It has two (2, II) RCA-type jacks. One is S/PDIF in and one is S/PDIF out. If you have a means for converting your signals to S/PDIF, you can use the S/PDIF input to record two more signals. Thus, you can record six (6, VI) using both the S/PDIF and analog inputs.

Without using the S/PDIF input, you have four, 4, IV analog inputs, which allow you to record four, 4, IV signals at a time.
