I'm looking for a small mixer with mic pre-amps and I was thinking of the mackie 1202 pro. Everything I've read says that the new pre amps in it are excelent. Is this the best for the price, I'm trying to keep this as inexpencive but decent quality as possible.

Yep, I really like my 1202VLZ pro. Itz great. i've used it for recording, live performance and some post production on a couple movies. So i've used it in a lot of different applications and liked it for all of them. For live itz a bit small.... but it handeld it quite nicely. I would deffinatly recomend it.

For the money you can't do better than a Mackie. The new VLZ Pro series is damn good.

VLZ pro series

you if all the vlz pro series are the same. i mean was there an older version of the vlz pro series, that had the same name, that was different or inferior? i'm sepcifically looking at getting the 1604 2nd hand and the guy i'm buying from says it's not the newest model. does that mean that it will have less features or be inferior in any way? thanks.
