Thanks for responding, actually I was asking about a mastering technique that uses the same basic principal with which, as I grok, it is possible to split a stereo mix into seperate componants in order to treat them individually (the original, a "middle" mix and a "sides" mix). I know that there is the danger of creating phase problems. I know that if you invert a stereo wave save it as a unique file and bring it up at the same time and flip the sides, you get the difference (s), I have gotten the center (m) but forget how. I was hoping someone could share their ideas on how to get all three (original, middle and sides) all up on three sets of faders at the same time.
bvaleria, thanks for the link. I've used this for ac. guitar micing with sometimes spectacular, sometimes terrible results. Gotta stop typing now...sorry for the semi-informed ramble.........Charles
