Suck 'em and see!
I Have an Electrovoice RE20 and a Studio Projects B1.

The impedence selector on my Tampa mic pre has 300, 600, 1200 and 2400 ohms. How do I know which setting to use on my mics and can I damage them by selecting the wrong one?

No, you can't damage anything. Although mics are rated at a nominal output impedance, the nice thing about the variable input impedance feature is that you can listen to the mic/source at various impedances, and choose the one you think sounds best.

What crazydoc said. You can't hurt you mics by using the impedance switch. Just play around with the settings. You'll notice little varations in sound from one setting to another. Will sound like you're playing with EQ a little bit. Use whatever setting you think sounds best.

Thanks guys. I just bought the RE20 and since it's my first big bucks mic purchase I didn't want to take any chances. :)
