M-Audio Delta 44 vs Delta 1010.

Does the Delta 44 sound as good as the Delta 1010? Cause I don't need all the channels, MIDI, digital out, etc that the 1010 offers.

The converters are on the pci card on the 44 and are more prone to RF. The 1010 has the converters on the breakout box. and are cleaner sounding to me. I had a 1010 and a 66 running together and I could hear the difference between te two.

I use the Delta 44 and haven't had any RF issues. The 44 does up to 24/96, though the 96khz sample rate crushes my PC, so I record at 24/48 and I have been happy with that. I got the 44 for exactly the same reason as you, I didn't need midi inputs at the time. But after months of recording and experimenting with midi via a cheap USB cable, I wish I opted for the 1010. But if you are 100% certian that you won't need MIDI, get the cheaper Delta 44.

as a former Delta 44 user and a current Delta 1010 user I did not pick up a noticible difference in sound quality. Both worked very well. No issues just good results. I only got the 1010 so I would be able to record full drum kits etc ..

It's basically the same card. Same sound.

The 1010 uses different converters and the dymanic range is substantially higher.

That's what I was thinking...they aren't the same card.
