Ive been using some bx5a's for a little while now, and im not too fond of them. They seem to be fairly lo-mid heavy and VERY bass shy.
I actually had a CD I recroded and "psuedo-mastered" for a band this summer, and I mixed on the Bx5a's. The band decided they wanted a finished product with practically no notice before hand, so I didn't get the chance to listen to my mixes on more systems than just my bx5a's. Well, long story short, the mixes sound fine on the bx5a's, but I mistakenly bumped up the low end on my multiband. I couldn't hear anything wrong on the bx5a's, but as soon as I got the track on a system with a bit more bass response, it was completley overwhelming.
very embarrasing for me.
So here's the deal: I have a qsc usa370 amp just hanging around, not getting used, and I have an opportunity to get some 20/20 passives at a good price. The 20/20 cabs are a bit dinged up, but the woofer and tweeters are in pretty darn good condition.
Should I jump on the deal for the 20/20's, or just stick with the bx5a's?
Thanks for the help guys,
Alex
