LynxOne or LynxL22?

Excluding issues of expansion, the question is difference in quality/accuracy. Is the LynxL22 much better than the LynxOne?

I assume L22 is the 2nd generation which implies all-around improvements. Is it worth the extra cost (roughly $250)?

its supposed to be from all the review i've read but i haven't heard the lynx one I do have a lynxtwo and i think its great

Reach for the brass ring, get the L22. If you don't, you'll second guess your decission to no end, not to mention painting yourself in a corner with no expandability as you mentioned.
I pondered this too, but went for the L22 and love it. Buy yourself the peace of mind that comes with knowing your converters are beyond reproach.

Oh, I did read a review in an audiophile mag where they said the Lynx 1 fell a little short of "Audiophile quality", but that the Lynx II converters made the grade, for whatever that's worth. Always good to know you can impress the snobs.

I like the brass ring.

Yes, the LynxStudio site mentions that the Two and L22 have updated/upgraded converter from the One.

Also the One has 24-bit/50kHz analog I/O vs. the Two series with 24-bit/200kHz. That's gotta make a difference.

Ok, newbie time...
Do you still need a separate sound card for monitor speakers? In the picture of the board I don't see any output ports... or are the output plugs included in the octopus looking cable that comes with it?

and 2 are analog outputs

as well as spdif/aes connection

word clock in/out

and i forgot what else

i have a lynxtwo and its slightly different then the l22's cable configuration
