Hello everybody! This is my first post so I'm sorry if I offend anyone with my lack of knowledge.
I am recording a cover of the song Cigarette Daydreams - Cage The Elephant for my A level coursework.
The singer has a very high, piercing voice at times and it seems like a lot of compression is used and god knows what else. I don't have much experience in mixing vocals so if anyone can give me any pointers on how to mix/record this vocal track, it would be very appreciated.

The condensers available at school are AKG 414s.
If you have the time and patience, tips on placing the piano, pizzicato violins and cello in the mix would be well received.
