I like the drum sound a lot. Great job. I wouldn't know how to improve on the mix... but it's interesting following the progression of the song as you tweak it.

Just pumped up the effects on the vox -

.

I dig the effect on the vox.
Only thing id say is to automate some effect byasses on the breaks where he goes DEEEEEEFECT!-kill the effects, the cymbal ringover, room noise, eyc....so that part is just dead silent. Itll add more impact when the music comes in 2 seconds later, and also give the impression that the band is mega tight.

The drums sound much better to me now as well.

Ever thought about adding bass distortion? seems like it would fatten things up more.
Maybe only add it where you want the songs dynamics to really "slam".
Also to add more fule to the fire, perhaps try bumping the drums up half a db where you end up adding the bass dist. Dynamics are good.

-Best of luck at trying to get them to retrack also.

All is not lost! LOL :D

I am just getting a bit frustrated with things, and the band is coming by tonight, and that is what they had recorded before. just wanted to make sure that mine sounded better - self doubt creeping in.........

As far as the drums sounding better, I did NOTHING to them. I only beefed up the vox effects. I did, however, slam the master before the mp3 conversion a bit harder - still didn't compress it too much though, mostly just brought the db level up - I hadn't realized how quiet the level was......

Thanks to everyone again!

:D

The last version you have posted is WAAAAYYY better than the first! Nice!!

To my ears the guitars are out of balnce with the drums still, though. I'd turn 'em up and shelve out a bit more low end so the bass shines more.

Good stuff though.

Quick fixed the stops (soundforge) and added the bands end. Can't automate all the effects as some are external, so I will have to do it manually - tommorow......

I swear, I won't post another version!!!!

Well, whatever you end up with, the last 2 versions were pretty damn good. Band also did a good job, as it's a cool song.

I don't know if it's just me but personally I would like to hear a lot more flap and squawk outa that bass. It just seems to me to get lost in the mix. As much as you have worked so hard with this track, I think you did a great job. Again personally,jI liked the dry sound of the vox originally but maybe doubling or layering just to fatten them up a bit. At any rate better than anything I've done lately so who am I to say?

I think it turned out great G.
I think A & M were happy with the way it turned out.
Great work on a 6 month "Work in Progress". ;)
