Looking for PA9

For all who are interested, this is the response I received from Cakewalk:

Transfer of ownership and registration is against the End User License Agreement and doing so voids any upgrade discounts or tech support for the new recipient.

So I guess I'm looking for a copy someone has that they never registered and would like to sell.

You know what's the funniest feature that's missing in HS2002 but is present is SONAR?

The tuner!

It was in PA9, but they didn't bother to add it to HS2002. Weird, I would say amateurs need tuners the most. :)

I'm about to buy an Aardvark DirectPro in about a week. It will come with PA9. I already have a totally legal and registered Sonar 2.2, so I don't need it. What's a fair price?

I'd definitely be interested in it. I'm not sure what a fair price would be. What would make you happy?

Hell, I can't get the tuner in SONAR to work anyway! But I've got a Peterson rack-mount strobe tuner so the non-funtional tuner is a moot point for me.

Hey Dan,

I left you a private message. It seemed more appropriate than continuing this online.

well sorry...you know it is a damn good product no crashes, its funny that you buy all this software keep upgradeing and then you cannot sell it or transfer the rights so someone else can use it, i have home studio eight which is the first audio program i use now i don't use it like pro 9 in fact i have a lot audio programs which i do not use since sonar, reason, acid keep upgradeing but i guess that how it goes...i'am sure you can find a copy un reg some where.....good luck and keep tracking....banm33

I'd just let you know that in Norway you can't even take advantage of the upgrade-prices in the US. Now, be happy! ;)

Why the hell is that? You can order it in the US right? Or does it have something to do with taxes?

Nope, some countries, including Norway, has a special "import deal" meaning I have to buy Sonar here. Cakewalk won't send it to me from the States. (But I can go to the states and by it there and save 70% off the price)...

That could almost pay for the trip.

But do you have to put the Sonar disks in a baloon and swallow them before you can go through customs in Norway? :D

Or maybe you could just put Britney Spears labels on the discs. That way nobody would try to play them by mistake. :D

pa9 anyone?

I don't know if anything ever culminated with this post, but I bought the Aardvark LX6 (like an idiot) and now I bought SONAR, but am keeping the LX6 interface for now, so have a brand new registered PA9 which I'll never use. Cakewalk says I can't unregister it, even though I haven't even opened the thing. I told them I haven't even bought a pc yet. I guess there can't be trust when we humans engage in business with each other, that would be silly. Anyway, anyone wants it, the PA9, they can have it. Might as well put it to some use. I understand it's quite a good program for recording audio, as long as you aren't interested in using soft synths and loop programs. Chris

entangle,

Yes, I agree that the policies of the software companies seem unreasonable.

I did recently purchase an unregistered PA9 from someone that got it bundled with an Aardvark card. I was able to register it with Cakewalk. For me, it is a great program, and does everything I need it to.
