Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a Behringer ADA800 adat interface. I'm actually looking for any 8 channel adat interface but figured the behringer is the least expensive so there you go. Looking to spend under 140.00 on that.

Also looking for preamps, individual, or dual, or more for that matter. Need four total (aside from the ADA8000 already mentioned). Looking for as cheap as possible preamps, so dont list anything above 50 per channel. Yeah I know thats pretty cheap but thats the budget right now. A four channel mixer is acceptable as well but it needs to have individual outputs for all channels.

Let me know if you're interested, or if you have any ideas of where I can find this stuff other than ebay (I'm already constantly looking there for offers).

Thanks and take care!

I have a Mackie 1202vlz that I have really been considering getting rid of.....it has 4 pres and each channle has an insert for direct out.

best I can do shipped is probably around $165...as long as you are in the lower 48

That actually sounds pretty good.

Just to clarify as I'm not to familiar with hardware mixers as of yet (I do everything in box), but I was under the impression that inserts were for inserting external effects boxes.

What your saying is I can go from the insert out (which would regularly go to an effects box) into the line inputs of my interface?

Will I have control of the output gain through the fader or only the trim pot when doing this?

Also would you mind posting some pics?

Thanks a lot man hope its not too much trouble.

BTW: what do you use the mixer for?

yeah get an insert cable and plug half of it into the input on your A/D. then just the preamp is routed to the computer and not the EQ and other stuff that you don't need. a little clunky but it gets the job done and you can use the rest of the mixer for other uses if need be. and hey you can't beat 4 preamps for less than 200 bucks.

that is unless you go for one of the smpro pr8 units. they are discontinued but can be found on ebay. they only retailed for 99 bucks and supposedly sound decent. keep in mind that i've never tried one. i've just been looking for things to mod and this one caught my eye recently as well as the symetrix sx-202

Dude, thanks for the info. I have actually been looking all over ebay for either a small mixer, grouped preamps or 4 separate preamps.

What I found is pretty much as you stated. The cheapest 8-channel preamp I found is the Nady PRA-8 but I've only heard bad things about it so I dont think Ill go for that. Also the Art MP line can go for as low as 20-30 for each preamp, these seem to have mixed reviews though.

Yet, I have found old analog mixers at very good prices.

I will seriously consider the mackie but will have to let you know tomorrow due to some unfinished auctions I'm waiting for.

Thanks again for the offer and I'll let you know, Dont worry about the pics as I've found quite a bit of them online. I'll assume yours has the usual wear and tear because if something was faulty you probably would've mentioned it already.

If you have any other ideas for my needs they are more than welcome, although I understand the fact that they might end up ruining your sale so no pressure, :).

Have a good one man!

EDit: For the routing, cant a use a standard 1/4" cable instead of half an insert cable?

the "first click" method for using a channel insert as a direct out should probably be done with a standard 1/4 to 1/4 cable. Just to take the confusion out of it. This is how I do it when I need more ins than the few stand alone preamps that I have will accomodate and it works great.

Someone else should chime in on whether it needs to be balanced and all of that jazz. I use this method on my Mackie 1604 and it works fine though I'd rather have my inserts pre fade and EQ but that's a whole different convo.

I havnt used this mixer for the pres for quite some time....I just used it for some simple routing and headphone outs and such...but back in the day, when I did use the pres, I just inserted a TS cable into the insert on the back of the board until it clicked once...you can actually insert it all the way if you are not going to use the mixer for monitoring or for headphones....

the insert point is a place where audio can leave the mixer, get processed in outboard gear, and then return to the mixer to complete its travle through the board...this is why you need a TRS cable to use the inserts...if there is no return signal, there will be no signal at the mixers outputs, or headphone outs....inserting the TS plug only halfway does 2 things....1. It will take the signal from your pre to your soundcard. and 2. it does not interupt the signal from traveling through the rest of the board so you can still use the mixer outputs...

if you do not plan to use the mixers outputs...you can plug the TS cables all the way into the inserts and you should have no trouble....

thanks man but I already purchased an old peavey mixer on ebay for about 50 bucks, 6 preamps with inserts as well. Its an old RQ200, dont know how well itll do but I guess ill find out soon.

Anyway thanks for the offer man. Have a good one.

EDIT: Still looking for a Behringer ADA8000 if anyone's interested.
