Look on eBay... there are usually several pages of them, ranging in price from $50 to $250 depending on condition and version/model/software/accessories.

Believe me - I'm the last person in the world to promote buying ANYTHING through eBay. The simple fact is that eBay lists more ADATs than any other retail outlet. Period. So if he's comfortable with eBay, cool. If not, that's cool too. If nothing else, he can get a feel for what each version is selling for these days, whether he buys one through eBay or not.
Frankly speaking, he'd be much better off looking in his local area for an ADAT... perhaps a trade-in at a local music store, or through a classified ad in his local newspaper or through Craigs List, where he can meet the seller, see the ADAT, try it out, and make certain that it works before he plunks down his hard-earned cash.
As a side note, here's a link to a thread about my personal experience with buying an ADAT through a dishonest eBay seller :
eBay is great. As long as you're careful. Its worth tracking an item, and asking the seller a few questions before you bid. You cant be too careful, just watch that overseas stuff. theres usually hidden costs............
