I need somethin with fancy buttons and sliders and other duhickeys...what would you recomend?

Im lookin for a new mixer, 8-10 mic pres, eq, phase reverse, phantom power, all that jazz. Not too much money (probably up to $300 or so). Tell me if there even is one that i can get for that much money, and if there is, please tell me it isnt a behringer.

I just got a Peavey RQ 2318, it is OK. Maybe worth a look !

Under $300 on Musician's Friend. I've got the MG10/2 (don't need that many inputs) and I LOVE it!

with that bad-daddy would i be able to send a mic to the pre, then send the amplified signal to a compressor, then back to the channel and then mix that compressed signal?...i may have worded that terribly, so try to bare with me.

I believe the Yamaha MG series has inserts on each channel, so you'd be able to do that using on insert cable between the mixer and your compressor. I don't think it has separate channel direct outs, so if you then wanted to send that signal to your recorder, you'd have to send it out over one of the other output paths. If you don't need an effect input on the insert, you can use it as a direct channel output by inserting the cable to the first click in the insert jack.
