Hi, I'm looking for a MIDI keyboard to use with my SB Live! Value card.

What I want to do is make use of soundfonts basically. Nothing fancy, just a simple keyboard to make synth sounds from the soundfonts. So do you know of any good ones under the 200 dollar level?

Thanks

Emu/creative makes a keyboard just for use with their stuff. But, Ive heard people say fatar's are great.

For a few more bux you could get a used alesis qs 6.1 and use its ability to make its own roms for it from samples so you could use your soundfonts in it on the road or on the couch in the next room.Just an Idea.

You can find these at soundchaser.com

Evolution MK-49 http://www.evolution.co.uk/newweb/moreinfo/mcpro.htm
49 note fullsize MIDI keyboard controller with velocity sensitivity, pitch bend and modulation wheels w/ software & MIDI adaptor. Includes everything you need to connect to a PC for music making. $109.95

One year ago this was rated the #1 value by one of the Brit music mags, "Computer Music," I think. I bought one from Zzounds for $99.00, and I'm not sorry. I plan on using it with SB Live soundfonts also.

Roland PC-70
http://edirol.plands.com/shop/prod-gateway.ddp?itemcode=362178
49-full sized velocity sensitive keys with pitch bend, modulation wheel, and LED readout. The PC-70 has a new sleek design in metallic silver, and is perfect for use with any GM/GS compatible sound module or synthesizer. Includes a power supply, MIDI cable, and sustain pedal $149.95

This is new and the one I would buy if shopping today. The same mag mentioned above rated this the new king of inexpensive MIDI controllers--and it's a Roland. I believe it also comes with Cubasis software--a $80-$100 value in itself.

I have a Keyboard by Kaysound, the MK4902.

From what I have seen, it seems to be the exact
same keyboard as the Evolution MK-49 that
tdukex mentioned, they look identical, right
down to the fonts they use. I think it is
the same price too.
