Ok so ive never seen one of these things, how does this work? i plug in threw the laptop with a usb and then i plug my midi controller into this box? is there any setup for not having a latency issue with the midi controller?

Well this one's Firewire...do you you have Firewire on your laptop?

Those two won't have the nice pres and converters, but they'll get the job done. I can say that the EMU has great drivers for XP and has been incredibly stable (I have the 1820).

Basically, you plug it in, install the drivers, restart the computer, install any patches or updates, restart, and you should be okay.

I have No idea what a FireWire Is? i bought my laptop im waiting for it to come in the mail. How will i know if it has firewire? I purchased a Dell with 2gb of ram a 120 gb and intel duo core processors with a 4mb cache? They also said 7200 sumthin lol sorry for being so illiterate about pc n what not.... i plan to buy the tascam 144 soundcard hopefully i dont run into no problems running reasona nd having a latency problem..
