Ok I've been using Sonar 4 PE for a project I'm working on ... I am trying to program some drums and play in some keys for soft synths and stuff. But I'm having a big latency problem, whether I use my M-Audio Oxygen 8 or just click on the piano roll, there's too much delay regardless of what VST instrument is being used to actually play anything in accurately.

My setup is:
3Ghz P4
XP Home
1024mb ram
160gb hard disk
M-Audio Delta 44
Oxygen 8

I assume this is some kind of buffer thing but I'm running at like 64 samples in the Delta control panel ... 24bit 48Khz so really it shouldn't be this slow!

I'm a software retard so any help is massively appreciated!!!

Options/audio/mixing latency

Pull the slider back till you find a balance between stability and latency.

I run at 2.9ms,a lot depends on what's all going on in the particular project.

Duh ... cheers mate. I'm ok for PC power so 2.9ms will be fine I expect. I used to run at 96khz till I realised it was pointless, but I hadn't appreciated how much it would screw with my latency unless I learned what the hell the buffers do!

Well, since that problem is solved, I'll just mention that....

it's Friday
