cominginsecond, thanks for the MP3 files and for staying focused on the subject... this is a good thread you started.

Do you thank everyone for staying focused on the subject? No. Are you slipping into your rain man ways again? Perhaps.DJL said:cominginsecond, thanks for the MP3 files and for staying focused on the subject... this is a good thread you started.![]()
It is true some mics pickup more sibilance than others... however, you should be able to find a mic placement where it will help redue it... and yes there are some trade-offs, but what's new.cominginsecond said:Do you thank everyone for staying focused on the subject? Experiment more... the sweet spot doesn't have to be at the forehead, moving the mic just a little bit can make a BIG difference... and my thanking you was NOT a dig at you, when I dig at someone I call them a fucker. I thanked you for staying focused on the subject and not going off it with H2oskiphil's worthless comments and etc. So lighten up dude.cominginsecond said:My point is, I don't want to make the trade-off. I want to get a mic that I can sing right in to (not at forehead level, so that I can still get an intimate tone) without the sibilance tearing my head off. The NTK is the only mic I have that has this problem. That's why I want to replace it with something else that doesn't have this problem, but is still on the bright-ish side.
If you don't want Rain Man comments from me, don't make passive agressive comments like "thanks for the MP3 files and for staying focused on the subject." That's clearly a dig at me, along the lines of "I'm glad you've quit beating your wife."
Apology accepted... and I hope you find the mic your looking for.cominginsecond said:You won't believe how much I've experimented with that mic. It's great on acoustic guitar and cello and violin, but I cannot get a great vocal sound without tons of sibilance.
Sorry that I misinterpreted your comment.

Now that I've thought about it, maybe you want to also try the A-48. It's pretty bright. Don't know about the sibilance, though. Another one that comes to mind is the Studio Projects T3 which may just be the ticket. It has a little bit of a mid scoop like the NTK, but doesn't sound as harsh in the high end to me. Plus, it gives you multi-patterns.cominginsecond said:Anyway, I placed an order for an ADK TC, on the condition that I am just evaluating it. I'll report back with how I like it. I've heard nothing but good things about it.
Like Flatpicker... I too was thinking about what mic might work best for you and then started thinking about the comment you made "The NTK is the only mic I have that has this problem." and then I started wondering which other mics you have and why you don't just use one of them?cominginsecond said:Anyway, I placed an order for an ADK TC, on the condition that I am just evaluating it.
