Logic punch in in loop

I wonder if im doing something wrong.

I can record several takes in loop mode but when finishing a track that can be a bit of a pain when you only need 1-2 parts/notes.

So punch in is great.
However this time i wanted to do a small part and somehow i can't get logic to keep recording.
It works the first run including hearing myself via monitoring but the next run it won't record.

When i look online some people claim it should work and others say it's a limitation which sounds weird seeing they would limit to one run only.

At school, we practiced punching in for a fellow doing rap so he could avoid any breathing noise between phrases (verses?) the he would project if he went through the full song. So he just punched in each verse and got a super clean take each time.

A song 'sung' would be subject to more tonal variations and need EQ and/or volume edits to even out, unless you are a very disciplined vocalist...

I'm using it for guitar/bass.
I did find a solution
I'm using a vintage fs50 midi controller with the buttons programmed for record, play, stop

You could also use a wireless page Turner. Works very well.
