Hey folks, I’m Sam.
I’ve had an account here since 2012 and have read many threads but have never posted anything, nor have I introduced myself, sorry about that but here I am and I have a technical problem that is a doozie and a long winded story....apologies.

Here’s the bones of my hobbie studio:
Stock standard 2011 iMac – 21.5 inch OS X 10.9 Mavericks
Logic Pro 9.1.8
Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 (usb straight into the imac)
M-Audio Oxygen 49 (usb into imac – no other option)

The problem is that when I record enable a software inst. track I can not hear anything and it won’t record, whereas previously in this current session, I could do both. Audio tracks record and play back without a hitch. When I play a note or chord on the Oxygen it is displayed in the MIDI In/out section of the transport bar in Logic.

Have tried - resetting MIDI drivers. Changing output and input devices (8i6 to built ins, back to 8i6). Saving As and opening a copy of the session with same result. Yelling at the computer.
I opened up an unrelated project session, record enabled a software inst. track and didn’t have an issue, it’s just this particular session.

Here’s what I did before it happened……
I’ve had this particular Logic session on the go and working smoothly for the last 2 weeks. Recording and playback of regions on audio and software inst. tracks had been fine.
I went to open up Scarlett Mix Control software for the 8i6 and it crashed. Multiple attempts to open it resulted in the same thing. After googling, I found out that Focusrite have identified a problem with Mix Control crashing on systems that are running OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Focusrite say to go in to the Activity Monitor, find MIDI Server, if it’s listed, and delete it. This kills the MIDIService process. After doing this Mix Control should open……And it did!

Scarlett Mix Control crashes when opened on OS X 10.9 Mavericks | Focusrite

Didn’t really touch anything in Scarlett Mix Control, just wanted to have a gander.
Opened up Logic and record enabled one of the software instruments. (that had previously worked fine) and all of a sudden…Nuffin! And it’s the same on all four software instrument's tracks. Adding a new soft. inst. track yields the same result.

Everything looks fine (as far as I can tell) in the clicks and ports Environment Window but I’ll attach a screenshot if anyone wants to have a look…

Sorry for the essay but I hope I haven’t left anything out. I’m not very tech savvy so any help on this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks very much!
