Hi everyone, this is my first post of many, i'm sure. I'm fairly new to recording for the most part. I've spent a lot of time using Nuendo and a PC with a crappy Radio Shack mixer, but I've recently upgraded to a Macbook, Logic 9, and the Motu. I feel like I'm starting all over...and I'm having a really basic problem.

I've got an SM57 plugged in (XLR) to MIC/INST 1 on the front panel of the Motu, everything is on, track is open, record is enabled, the switch is down on the Instr. TRS/MIC XLR switch, but I'm not getting any signal. Thing is, I can move the switch to Instr. TRS, plug in a guitar and get a signal just fine. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Check the easy culprits first; Try the mic into a different channel, try a different mic or instrument in the suspect channel, try a different cord, ect... Also, I know that the MK3 series interfaces use CUE MIX FX to control monitoring levels, open up CUE MIX and make sure that your inputs and outputs are set correctly. Oh yeah, that reminds me, make sure your inputs and outputs are set correctly in Logic and that your MOTU interface is set as the default interface. Hope that helps!

Muyukiguki, thanks for the response, i'm going to try out switching
cables/mics/messing with cuemix settings etc. i hope i can get this worked out by the weekend...
