Hey! I’m new to the site and I’m just after some opinions/tips/suggestions on how to work my live room which will be based in my garage (Beats a guest bedroom!) which will be mainly used for rock music. I’ve been reading forums for the last two weeks gaining ideas so I’ve attached a little paint picture of how it may look. I haven’t included measurements but if this is helpful in the way of suggestions then I’ll post them up!

I’m putting in a divide (red line) between the two garages and the part where the garage door sticks out. What would be the best material to put behind the divide next to the garage door to stop much sound leaking (although no neighbours to worry about!)? I’ve got a lot of old duvets covers which I was thinking about putting between them but would these cause problems?

Are the positioning of the drums and Guitar Cab appropriate or would I just be best experimenting once the rooms finished?

I was thinking of putting up bass traps due to the high of the room etc and was wondering if the to bass traps marked with a ‘?’ are appropriate?

The room will be lined with carpet and Acoustic foam, or is it best to do a whole wall or two converted in acoustic foam as I don’t want much room sound.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me and if I’ve made loads of mistakes, just let me know, I’m young and willing to learn! Cheers!

Dont line the walls with carpet. I wud suggest not even using foam. Best is rigid fiberglass or mineral/cotton wool. But it is best to treat the ceiling, and corners, i think, in a "live" room. Maybe build a few broadband gobos, to place around the room dependant on what you are using it for.
