Live MIDI?

I'm looking to use a MIDI controller through my imac as a secondary synth for performing live. How do I get the output of the laptop into the mix? Do I have to put the headphone output through a di Box into the mix or what?
 
while you could send the headphone with some headaches... what ya really need is a portable interface... and check it out real good before trying it on the job... lotsa guys have had noise problems when doing this live... it's a power supply/grounding issue... most run off batteries for the set and then charge during breaks to get around it...
 
I figured it would probably end up coing to that, anyone hace any suggestions for a good interface?
