Listening Party @ Hot Topic

We recently had a listening party for our upcoming cd at our local Hot Topic. It was really easy to set up. We were allowed to play our cd twice and we were even allowed to sell merch. Our record label gave us a banner and some cds from other bands on the label to sell, as well. We made a video highlighting the event. Here's a link to it: Hot Topic Listening Party

Is your album already being distributed by HT, or would they just let random bands come in?

I've sometimes pondered contacting my local HT, but I'm pretty ambivalent about it. On the one hand, my stuff would probably do pretty well at the Hot Topic scene. On the other hand, I don't particularly like them. Heck, we even make fun of them in one of our songs.
 
No, our stuff isn't being sold by Hot Topic. But they will let you come in and do something like we did. All I had to do was contact my local store and talk to their manager. They were really eager to help us out since they say they're all about the music. And they probably won't care that you make fun of them in your songs... Just as long as you don't blatantly bash them while you're there.
