Very very nice. I too heard some STP influence...Stone Temple Pilots.

Wish I could sing like that.

Mike

Ah, yes, Stone Temple Pilots...love'em!
I loved the singer's voice when they first came out. Grungy, raunchy stuff. He's done some good stuff with Slash though, too.
Don't give up on your singing.....
Thanx for listening in, Mike :)

Joe
:D:D

I can hear the STP (don't take the stuff m'self) references as well as S'garden.
I love wah - pasrticularly when it moves within the sound stage - I though I was the only one who was into that these days.
Well played & performed. the only thing I don't like is the tone of the Bass Drumm - sounds a bit fake - too clicky. I'm old enough to remember & enjoy deep bass sick drums that moved chest muscles.
I'd like to hear this loud on my main stereo - should fill the space nicely.
Top job.

Thanx for the compliments, Ray!
I'm an absolutely great fan of Chris Cornell and Audioslave but I loved his Soundgarden days too. Self-destructive, tragic, raunchy stuff...absolutely Rock'n'roll. Wah can give so much colour to a guitar, love to use it here and there and no, you're not the only one to like it.....(grew up listening to Hendrix)
Yes the drums, the biggest weight on my shoulder....:(
Thanx again and say hi for me to the other falcons down under!

Cheers
Joe
:D:D

So glad you like it, True!:)
Song's about breaking out of the shit life puts us thru and feeling the wind in our face whilst riding into the sun......

I'm working on another mix right now to fix the stuff you guys pointed out and get some more balance....

I'va heard your voice and it's nice and raunchy too, real rock'n'roll lady stuff. How about if we did a song together....? I'm sure that would rock :D

As always, thanx for your support and comments!

Joe :D
I understand exactly what you mean!! I get that feeling every time I start up my bike...there is something about that rumble...the roar as you leave behind sanity and become one with the wind(pardon the corn:D)..free to be a cwazy fool for a while!!!

Thank you for the compliment~!

Wow...you bet I would love to sing with you! As soon as I get the knots tied with other commitments. I am naughty about too many irons in the fire and not enough branding going on!!

Once again Joey...awesome song!!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents - Excellent!!! - Well maybe a nickel!:cool::D

Yeah Joe. This song rocks!!! As always, vocal performance is the best. I love the energy you put into it.

One thing I notice with this song is you have the vocals notched out pretty thin. What I mean is I've heard your voice before and it sounds fuller. Here, you've rolled off the low end too much. I think the song is missing some energy around 500 - 1k and you can fill that in with vocals. Just my opinion that doesn't mean much.

I'm really diggin' this song.... :)
Peace,

Hey Ido & Chilli!
Sorry for taking so long to answer...(just got back from Italy and its ravishing cuisine)

Ido...a nickel's OK:D

Chilli...thanks for the great comments! Yeah, the tone of the voice is like that on purpose, actually. I started out with an AM radio tone on the verse and tweaked it around a little bit, especially in the low mids. I felt it cut thru better and made it feel a bit more "modern" (....or dated???:D). But I really appreciate your advice.

True....I might just have something up my sleeve...;)
We'll see...

Damn it! I thought this was the Patrick Swayze song from Dirty Dancing...now i'm disappointed...J/K

Seriously this is pretty cool stuff. it does remind me of stone temple pilots alot. Thats good!

I'm sure Patrick would be disappointed too......:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Love the comparison with STP.

Thanks for the comment, man ;)

Joe
:):)

I sure will....:)
soon as I stop banging my bald head against the wall 'cos the new mix I'm trying to do of this one just doesn't sound right to my ears ....:(

New Mix

OK, guys and gals,,,,,,
here's a new mix and I'm still recovering from the bruises of endless hours trying to fix what I thought was wrong. I don't know if it's any better than the first version, I have lost all sense of objectivity ...:(
sure has a lot more comnpression now and I don't know if that's good or not....

so I'll let you decide which version is best....

I anxiously await your gunshots ......:o:D

Kaboom!!!!:D

Kick is better...but this version lacks some of the punch of the first version. It has also lost it's volume. I had to crank it up around 4dbs to get the same volume of version one.

Both are good...but other than the kick drum, I like version one best...a seemingly rawer, more rowdy form...and that's how I like my rock n roll...just like my men...raw and rowdy...:D:eek:

Man, I just love that little octave waver at 00:15-00:16...it sends chills up my spine. And I am really impressed with how your voice intertwines with the lead guitar...Your voice really rocks joey....awesome!!!

Yeah, I guess you're right, True...
I liked the first one but the kick was too loud. Maybe I should just try to fix that one with a Multiband and try to get just the kick down. When I started the second one I only wanted to lower the kick and ended up touching almost everything:(. And I feel as if I've compressed it too much, maybe that's why it's lower in volume. So if I have to go back to remixing it, I'll have to start from scratch. If I do that, I'm gonna let it lie for a few weeks , 'cos I need fresh ears.

Thanks for listening in and for the compliments.....:):)

Ahhhh...I didn't know you didn't have a file for the first version, where you could go in and re-tweak just the kick. That does suck if you have to start from scratch...

In Cubase, I started saving my *virgin*(non-tweaked) files in a project, so I can start from scratch if need be...and when I get a mix I like, I save that project as well...then if I only need to tweak one track in the file, I can, without messing with all the others..yah, like that is possible;). It uses up memory space like crazy though, saving too many files of the same project.
