Level control on Hafler amp

Hey all,
I'm getting a Hafler TA1600 amp this week, and am wondering if it's possible to control the volume level from one control. The amp has a control for both channels, and I would like to find something that would control that level from one, single knob. I hope I'm making sense!

I want to set the levels on the Hafler, then bring a "remote" if you will that will let me control the master level at my desk.

Also, what should I set the Haflers knobs at for my system? I'm using a Layla 3G and will be running balanced from the Layla to the Hafler.

You need a monitor controller - PreSonus Central Station is the best of the "budget friendly" models (IME) and the built-in D-A converter (!) is pretty good.

Others are Mackie's Big Knob and Samson's Control C.

Or you can always simply use a console's master section...

Turn the amp up. Unless it's horrifically overpowered, take advantage of some of that headroom.

[EDIT] Just noticed it's a Hafler TA1600 - Definitely not horrifically overpowered. Crank it. [/EDIT]

Thanks John. After I posted I was thinking about the Presonus as a friend uses one in his studio.

Yeah, the Hafler isn't a wattage monster, but I'm thinking it'll do the trick for me. Right now I'm using an old Roland amp so it's gotta be better right? ;)

ADDED: Just checked out the Samson (I'm sure not the best choice, but my spending needs to go down after my recent G.A.S) and it seems decent. I'm guessing for a bit more I'd be better off with the "Big Knob"? The knob looks like it would fit the bill just fine - and give me that single volume control I long for.

FYI The Samson is decent, I use it for most of its features, but I wish it had a quieter headphone amp. BUT, for one knob volume control, you got it; plus you can also control multiple sets of monitors as your G.A.S increases. hahaha :)

This may sound crazy (well, maybe not) but I purchased a Presonus HP4. It's a 4 channel headphone amplifier, and it has 2 balanced outs that can be run into a monitor amp (2 balanced ins as well). There is a monitor level knob that controls the output level, so basically this will act as a decent volume control. The specs are pretty decent on this little box too - better than the Samson (but the Samson serves multiple purposes of course). We'll see how it goes.

I saw a few reviews on the net regarding the Samson, and the big beef with it was the sound quality - claims of decreased high-frequency response. I guess you run that risk in any low-budget gear, but the HP4 got some decent recommendations.
