The instruments are:

a washburn 10 string
a yamaha 6 string
a remo doumbek
a rainstick

I spend alot of time writing and tracking, but I dont really know how to mix.. I just turn knobs and cross my fingers...

Can you guys tell me what I need to do with this?

Im going to shoot myself..

You may have to copy and paste the link because geocities is a joke.

It's called "remote Linking" or hot linking and it's against their TOS....your account can be deleted and everything in it for linking like this....post a link to the song on your Index page at Geocities.

Nice little tune but one that I couldnt get away from was the six string guitar in the left speaker playing lead.....it's out of tune in spots....especially in the beginning.

The mixing job is pretty good..things are spread out but that out of tune guitar is hard to listen to.

noticed the lack of replies. Seems like Kramer's your only bro. Cmon -- step up, fellas! :D :D (Yeah, you'll have to copy and paste the link in a new window, guys.)

I really really like the composition, and the melody; the chromatic steps on guitar around 1:20 are cool as hell. You're a good axe slinger (and guitar player, too ;)) Love the jazzy composition a bunch.

Surprisingly a pretty good mix. There's an odd bass note(?) around 2:02 that is just WAY loud -- probably peaks out your range. That "lead" guitar does sound just a hair harpsichord-like (not too technical a term :p) but it's something around 6k (not quite the cymbal-like 8kHz area).

A great instrumental tune that is much better than anticipated. Thumbs UP! :)

whoah thanks guys, i didnt really expect anyone to listen to it.. Thanks for the details..

Ive since (as in the last 24 hours) bought a pair of monitors (studiophile SP-5B) so I could hear what Im doing a little better, and I re-recorded the song.

Man, thats real cool of you to post my shit up on your site.
I threw up a demo site at www.geocities.com/demensiax/index.html

and re-recorded the song with no reverb/compression/solo threw the whole god damn thing.

Can someone tell me what to do with this blank mix?

I appreciate it again..

Participant..... harpsicord like??

Those sick bastards at guitar center gave me a credit card. Muahahahaha

I posted the song on my webspace at geocities.
Nice Kramer.... :)
dimensia..........some nice ideas here. I'm a big "zone" music guy, so this is right up my alley. There's not enough though.....you need more percussion. I'd also thought the rhythm guitars sounded a little thin. But a really nice bunch of sections. I think you're on to something.

Cool. Thanks Lt. Bob... What do I do to make the guitar sound fuller? (Besides playing again in the left speaker?)

Theres only a little percussion because well Im no percussionist!
heh.

Perhaps in the future Someone that knows what they're doing will come along.

I thought everything sounded real nice. Nice tone on everything and nice playing on everything. Very smooth bass line.

The bongos didn't hold up the rhythm real well. Perhaps a real sedate percussion part played on a kit. I thought the "main" guitar part was panned a little far to the right. If it were me, I'd bring it a little close to the center.

I could tell you tried to change things up throughout the song by using different parts and different instruments (or at least a very different sounding guitar). It still moved a little slow for me. Perhaps shorten each section.

Just thoughts...

Thanks man, Im going to spend the week actually working with this, hopefully Ill get it to come out the way it sounds in my head..

Id love to play it on a kit, but I dont have one, and a kit would get me evicted! heh. I was playing with a drum machine, but I cant stand them. I was thinking of getting tons of hand drums... and 1 cymbal. :)

I think you could fatten up the sound of the rhythm guitars with EQ. Maybe add a little bit of mids to low mids. Careful though.........you'll want a light hand on the EQ. The difference between thin guitars and muddy guitars can be a very fine line. I'd start off by adding less mids or low mids than you think will even make a difference. You'd be surprised how even tiny changes can affect the sound. Try adding like 1/2-1 db at around 500 hz. If that doesn't work , set it back like it was and try a different freq......maybe around 650. Play around with small changes like that until you find one that works.
