Good idea Henri.
I'll but up the original one I wrote way back when, first.
I wrote it in a few minutes, 15-25, I don't remember.
=======================
Woolton Church
Down the road in the summer time,
I walk along hoping to find.
Bits if youth and long lost dreams,
Like wading in those mountain streams.
Take me back.
Take me back.
Down the road from the old log shack,
On a stump my grampa sat.
Telling stories of his days of youth,
Then he'd sing a song about the blues.
Take me back.
Take me back. To Woolton Church.
Take me back.
(short lead solo)
Behind the magnolia, beyond the bay,
Stands a church where gramma taught me to pray.
Now covered with vines and everythin’,
I can still hear those gospel hymens.
Take me back.
To Woolton Church where my life began,
Take me back.
To Woolton Church where I played and ran.
Take me back.
(long lead solo)
Now I sit on that stump like my grampa did,
Telling stories to my great-grandkids.
The youngin’s listen to all the old news,
Then I pick up my guitar and I sing ‘em the blues.
Take me back.
To Woolton Church, where their lives began,
Take me back.
To Woolton Church, where grampa talked and sang,
(begin soft lead and fade)
Take me back.
To Woolton Church.
Take me back.
(repeat)
==================================
This is the revised lyrics.
Some things I changed, added somethings, did away with the solos, and moved stuff around a bit so it all kinda fit together.
I've been mullin' the idea of changing the name to,
Take Them Back (Woolton Church)
Mainly because the TTB is used throughout the song where as WC is used only a few times.
Besides that, I'm pretty set on how it is.
Wha'da ya think about the name change?
Down the road in the summer time,
Walking along hoping to find.
Bits if youth and long lost dreams,
Like wading in those mountain streams.
Take me back.
Take me back.
Behind the magnolia and beyond the bay,
Stands the church where gramma taught me to pray.
Now covered with vines and everythin',
I can still hear those gospel hymns.
Take me back.
To Woolton Church
Where it all began,
Take me back.
To Woolton Church.
Where I played and ran.
Take me back, I wanna be free.
Take me back, on those memories.
Down the road from the old log shack,
On a stump my grampa sat.
Telling stories of his days of youth,
Then he'd sing a song about the blues.
Take us back.
To Woolton Church
Where it all began,
Take us back,
To Woolton Church
Where we played and ran.
Take us back, we wanna be free.
Take us back, on those memories.
Now I sit on that stump like my grandpa did,
Telling stories to my own grandkids.
The youngin's listen to all the old news,
Then I pick up my guitar and I sing 'em the blues.
Take 'em back.
To Woolton Church,
Where it all began,
Take 'em back.
To Woolton Church,
Where they played and ran.
Take 'em back.
Where it all began,
Take 'em back.
Where they played and ran,
Take 'em back.
Take 'em back.

I know Chris Shaeffer did Woolton Street.
I was wondering if anyone else did anything further with the lyrics they wrote. I'd like to read/listen to them.
