Actually, there are six. Mixer "six" is so far to the right in the picture it was cut off by the camera. Mixer "one" unfortunately decided to not cooperate so its in the closet while its replacement is on the way. In the meantime I put a candle there which you can see in the picture :)

I had three of these intially, then switched to four TMD-4000's, which are more heavy duty, more features, etc, and I was pleased with the sound. But the automation absolutely doesn't work and automation is extremely important to me. I even offered to Tascam, to write automation software and give it to them for free for their users, with them supplying basic information. Of course that never happened, so after a year of frustration I sold most of them (I have one left) and went back to the TMD-1000's, and added three more off e-bay for a total of six.

While I'm very used to automated "flying" faders and the TMD1000's certainly don't have that feature they are fully automated via Midi (I have a rack of Unitor8 midi interfaces) so for all my sequencing needs this works very well. And I discovered minimal sonic difference between the 1000's and the 4000's, simply because my rack of Akai DR-series recorders, well, are really only 20 bit just like the TMD1000's. Dispite the brochure saying its 24 bit :) I have discovered that the Akai's SEND OUT 24 bits, but the lower 4-bits are always always always 0's. So its really 20 bit.

Go figure.

Yeah, they are okay. Not exactly a pro-board, but at $499 each I've spent $3000 and have a digital, fully automated 48 analog in, 48 ch digital in mixer. I generally don't need an 8-bus mixer and while I'm shopping for something much larger/more professional, at this point any 5.1 mastering I have to do I borrow my friend's studio in exchange for dinner, drinks, and maybe yet another engine swap in his mustang :)

So, Yeah! I like 'em :) Worlds first completely disposable digital mixer :)

I am new here....here is mine....

Being sick of the "That's great, it wont offend anyone," attitude of sound in the corporate world, I started doing stagehand and lighting work a few years ago. As of late, I have kind of missed the studio. Not wanting to go back to corporate, I decided to just start a small setup to record myself and eventually, work with local bands. At any rate, I just started putting it together, and I have not built a room yet, but it is coming. Up next is some good mics (Earthworks TC30Ks and Beyer M201s). Well, here is the picture.

nice studios everyone. I am looking to get a digital camera. I usually have to scan pictures and it comes out crappy cause the picture is crppy and the scanner reduces the quality. Anybody have suggestions on good digital camera's that are priced at the most $400.

After seeing all your studios, I must say some of them
were really every home recordist's wet dream. But the
simple ones I must say have a special kind of warmth
that seems just right for me. Makes me think, hey that's
the studio I want because that's the one I can afford.
There's a kind of intimacy, like the kind you get when you
record with a 4-track cassette inside your bedroom. I
mean afterall that's what makes all our studios "Home"
studios. This is all great stuff!

Thank you all for inputing and showing us your studio. As soon as I get some real gear you can see my studio, but for now its pretty weak. :)
