Hi guys,

I've just set up an account in NoWhereRadio.com.... and thought I'll post something there...

I've upload a song which was my first recording effort.... It's a Chinese rock song.... :)

hope you give it a listen and tell me what you think.... :)

This is my first mp3 posting, I'm kinda excited! ;)

The song is called "Bei ma" (Scolded)

hey dude,

I'm listening to your song right now...pretty good for your first effort.. I can't understand the words but I am tapping my foot...I think you may have too much reverb on everything....I'm not sure what you want comments on but I would say ease up on the reverb... but someone else can tell you better than I.....nice guitar solos.....not bad at all for your first.....I would say your off to a good start!

keep em comin'!

:D that ending scream just kicked in...now that's rock n roll!:D

Dang...I was wondering when you'd post something around here!! About time!

I agree with the reverb...a little heavy. First recording...if mine could have only sounded so good.

I like the feel at :46...the timing is a little bizzare feeling (like a slap back delay thing is happening...but I like the drums pounding away)

Yeah...this song gets the feets a moving!

Nice wah wah solo.

I'd say you are DEFINATELY off to a good start. Using a little more production of bringing instruments in and out....not all the way thru the whole song, a little more experience with reverbs and effects, and an OCTAVE higher on the scream:D ..you'll be set!

I like the song, kind of sounded like 'Wild Thing' at the beginning. I think the drums need to come up in the mix, can't really hear them except for the cymbals. Same with the bass, I could hear bits and pieces of it. Sounds like you had fun with this this. Good job.

Thanks for all the comments guys, keep em coming... :)

yup, I agree the reverbs are a kinda heavy (was hoping you guys would miss it, ;) )

anyway, I must confess that after finishing the song, I found it kinda slow and draggy and I ended up time streaching the whole thing to a few seconds faster!! that's kinda add some heavy chorus effect to the vocals especally.... what the heck! :)

BTW, this was done with a simple setup of a cheapo small condensor, behringer 602a mixer, soundblaster value! and a JV1010. That's it! Oh, and the guitars are from my ZOOM GFX707 direct in.....

hope to see more comments.... :)

Damn, this surprises me. I hadn't thought you'd sound like this.

What's good about it: it's a good song, and the playing and singing is good. I like it too, but that's not what's good about it.

What it needs: better sound on the vocals - they sound like they were recorded in the wrong room. :) This is a pity, because I really like your voice and what you're doing with it.

There are some timing issues with the wah-wah break at the end. Also, I'm not sure if you intended it or not, but the rhythm of the drums in the bridge doesn't match the rest of the song.

So: focus on timing and the sound on the vox.

I never hear stuff like this in Singapore. Refreshing. I don't think *anybody* screams here when they sing. :D Good stuff. Another one, please.

Thanks for the comments and advise. :) looks like I need a better room... ;)

I know what you mean by saying not hearing stuff like this in S'pore... I am sick of the main stream chinese songs where guys sing like a sissy... ;) er, no offense...

No offense taken. I sing like a sissy because I like it. :D

But as for the room - how about deadening it a bit with big, heavy blankets hung 15 cm from the walls, and then close mic the vocal a bit more? The soundproofing and the close miking will cut down on the room sound a lot. If you want some space on the vox, you can put some reverb on the vocal track later in the mix.

yup, that's what I plan to do after I moved to my own place in June. :)

Well, Chinese stuff in Singapore is *polite* dude. If you want something a bit wild and woolly, you gotta go elsewhere.

You know, Malaysia's really Muslim, and comes across as all proper and stuff, but clubs and bars in KL stay open till the wee small hours of the morning, and here in Singapore it's hard to find a beer after 2 am. Singapore's fun, but compared to Malaysia, just a bit tight-assed. Leeking's stuff is a breath of fresh air.

I guess most them would be in JB around that time.... ;)

wow, I guess I am not the only chinese on this board.

This song/style kinda reminds me of the underground rock bands I hear in Taiwan. Now you make me home sick lol
cool tune over all, do you think going to kareoke(?) too much resulted in your use of reverb? lol, j/k Keep up the good work

Hey that’s really good. It has punch and definition. I wish I had more of that. I didn't notice too much reverb. Looks like you and I both posted our first song on Nowhere at the same time. Good luck with future posts.
