Rokket, it sounds like you've got some hip Darius Milhaud polytonal influences going on here. Makes me think of Milhaud's idea of "a thousand simultaneous musics rushing towards me from all directions".

Very cool from a Boef sur le Toit perspective.

Hmmm, I never thought of it that way. My approach to soloing is like a schoolboy getting his first lay: poke around getting sloppy and hope I hit the hole....

Rokket, listented to your solo again just now with the volume high enough to really hear the tone. I'm still hearing the polytonal thing, but noticing too that the tone and funky feel sound a lot like John Scofield when I heard him at the Towne Crier in Pawling, NY a couple yrs ago.

Here's mine, called "Contest Entry". It's pretty much all minor pentatonic box at the 13th fret.

Hey yeah that was a nice, pure tone. And Timothy's right about the double stops. They were swell! :) They kind of reminded me of those great solos on those Beach Boys tunes like "Surfin' in the USA" and the like.

Alright, so here's who we've got so far, in order of appearance:

xfinsterx
Timothy Lawler
ocnor
famous beagle
Purge

mshilarious
Rokket

Somebody should PM Wireneck. He really needs to get in on this!

Who else is gonna throw down? Scrubs?

It's amazing what you can do with a $100 guitar and good software, huh?

OK, for those who want to know:
I DI'd my guitar into my MR-8 and just cranked the "distortion" knob to about 50%, and used the neck pickup. I added some fast flanger effects in Vegas.

As far as what I was playing, see my post above! :p

Tim, I've heard a lot of Scofield when I was into trying to listen to as much variety in music as possible. I love his tone and his amazing feel. I am flattered that you would compare me to someone of that calibre... :o
Perhaps I don't suck as bad as I thought...

Nah, I suck. As soon as I start believing I don't, I truely will!
Thanks again!

Beach Boys! <pounds head on desk>

Neil Young influence! <pounds more>

Seriously, thanks for all the kind words. It's got a lot of stumbles in it. I haven't been playing much lately.

That tone is the Baltic Blue Squier Bullet with Mighty Mite Alnico pups, switch position 4, through a Digitech RP50 with a little compression, British Combo on 9, a little 'verb, cabinet voice on, into the very cheesy built in soundcard on my laptop, mixed in Cubase LE.

What is wrong with the Beach Boys  That's an automatic loss for you, crazyhorseboy

Nothing's wrong with the Beach Boys. But that doesn't mean I wanna be the Beach Boys. I like Neil, but I don't mean to sing like him. I wanna be me, I want to be me, can't you see, me is how I wanna be.

I'd rather sing like Jon Anderson and play like someone who knew what they were doing.

Nuts.

Ok. I listened to everyones really good stuff, so I couldn't resist. Now the rules don't state that it actually has to be any good, does it? This is in the key of shit, and sounds like it too.

Hey, someone has to be the automatic loser, right?
Ed
