Thanks Rokket. As you can tell, I can't really solo. Just hit some notes that occasionally filled in the yamaha sound. I was working on another project, and took a break, and thought, hell everyone needs a laugh, so I stuck one in here for all to enjoy. So many of these guys can play so well, it's amazing. Guess it shows what some practice will do.

Hey, no fair. I'm the one that tried to lose on purpose--you can't find a more God-awful "solo" than what I did. I even threw "Smoke On The Water" in there just to add to an exponential suck factor!!!

Props for the name of your submission...that's funny as hell.

Actually, I didn't try to lose on purpose. I'm really that bad. The only thing that could be worse, is if I sang!!!! :eek:

I actually thought yours was pretty good. Something different.

I don't know about that. Mine only got one person responding to it. I have a feeling the others are still cleaning up their monitors when the gag reflex overtook them! :D
 
Shit, I always say things the wrong way! I honestly didn't mean yours was bad.

Mine, OTOH, I very much tried to make as shitty as possible.

I knew what you were saying man, so don't worry. I didn't take it as you saying it was shitty. I said it was shitty. It's not exactly a solo, I just played some notes to the keys for fun. It was spastic, all over the place stuff. I thoght yours was an interesting take.

So, remember, mine was bad, and I didn't have to try too hard for that.

Ok, Rokket, sorry. Guess I didn't respond to very many of the solo's myself. There were some at first that were so cool, and showed that people can play amazingly well, that I didn't come back here for a bit. Yours was interesting, and you probably described it best. But, you had the balls to enter one, after hearing some of the cool jazzy, buesy stuff people entered, so you inspired me to do something on the spot. Hey, someone has to be the entertainment, and with the cool keyboard sounds, there is some real entertainment to be had.

It sounds like everyone who did one had a blast, and all the different styles are cool. And the totaly different approach by ocnor and famous beagle, that was amazing. The things a good musician can do. :cool:

I wasn't wanking about it. I am a bassist, not a guitar player. I freely admit that! I didn't even think to try something on my 5-string. I bet I could have pulled something off.

Who knows, maybe this will inspire me to submit another entry, unless this thread dies before I have time...

I knew you weren't wanking, just bad on my part not to comment. You've been pretty helpful to me, so when you stated you couldn't solo and entered one anyway, I thought I better get in here and play. I just forgot to tell you good effort, for somone who doesn't solo. :D

Hey, I've enjoyed everyone's forays into the project. I caught that "Smoke" phrase, Purge, very funny. Rokket, you don't need to be down on yourself, and Dog, you seemed seriously avant-garde. ms, great tone and phrasing. Great chops, Beagle and ocnor. Lawler and Finster are in a league of their own.
 
Dogman, great solo. On my desktop spkrs here the tone sounds almost like a stand-up bass. The cool thing is though, that if I import the first section of your entry into one track, and Beagle's 1940's style swing entry or Finster's more funky jazz solo into another, it makes for a very interesting combination.

It's that damn UAD-1. Seriously this is a great card! I have a tape of the same guitar into a little solid state Marshall where I managed to sound like a strung-out Neil Young. Anybody who tells you it's all in the fingers is lying!

I did a NY hyper-distortion solo in nice b n young using the Insane channel on my Spider, direct.
