lespaul static on treble mode

Ive noticed this "static" that i hear when i play both my lespaul and sg with any kind of loudness. Im playing through a Mesa MkIIC+ into a Mesa 412 cab. The static comes when i have the pickups in the treble (lead) position. Its way worse with the lespaul. Its not the amp cause i switched that out. Its not the cord. Its not the cabinet cause switched that out too. Are these pickups just so hot that they "fuzz out" the speakers when played a little hard. Im trying to record and i keep getting the annoying static. (Esp on the low notes)....I had the lespaul supposedly looked at and the guy cleaned the pots. Any ideas whats wrong? Oh, and i had the Mesa on the cleanest setting possible and messed with the eq to make sure that wasnt it.
 
someone mentioned the pickups mught be going bad or need to be rewound

The fact that two seperate guitars produce the same problem would make me tend to believe it's not the guitar.

Use the process of elimination,play the guitars through a different amp.If you don't get the static that will tell you it's the amp.Try a different cord with the new amp also.
 
believe me i have done all of that. the lespaul is FAR worse than the SG in treble mode, but the SG still does it a bit. i switched out cable, amp, speakers. same deal. a lespaul studio in treble mode shouldnt sound so damned static-eee when i play with any loudness at all. I havent really played it in awhile, but i dont think it used to do this. damn damn damn
 
How's the wiring/grounding in the area where you're playing? My house is very dry in the winter, causing lots of static electricity. Add some screwey grounding problems that my house has in the first place, and I get frequent buzzes, clicks, pops and other strange noises when I play my electric guitar in the winter.

my house is not grounded. that is something I as a renter am trying like hell to get done from the landlord. It sucks. I get shocked all the time when im playing guitar and adjusting my preamps (avalon737 with all metal chasis and stuff....i might die eventually) That may be the problem, but its just when i play loud, like the pickups are being fuzzed or distorted and it kinda crackles. very UNattractive distortion. like digital clipping or something.

This sounds like a bigger problem than simple grounding,it sounds like your neutral or negative line is not properly hooked up.
Get a ground adaptor and run a wire to a water pipe that is close to going out of the house this may work.

You could try asking Csus7 about this,he's an electrician.
 
yea i just talked to the landlord and were gonna get the ground properly hooked up this weekend. ill ask him too
