Van Morrison Moon Dance inspired?

Yeah....that's the first I thought of too when I heard the opening.....but it departs from it as it goes on.

Apart from the small adjustments everyone else has already mentioned...I would pan things out a bit and leave a little more room for the vocal in the center, as it all seems a little bunched up in the middle...though I am listening off the interned on a computer, so the image isn't that wide for me....and I honestly would try some reverb just on the vocal (or a little more if you already have some)....I think that would ad some dimension to the vibe of the song, give it a little more air, as it sound a touch dry for my taste.

FWIW - I think the kick is at the right level. Maybe a little woofy, but I thought its level was sitting right. Snare might be just a tad hot (sounded real good tho).

Liked the bass sound.

I think you could boost the lead vocal. Maybe a little 4-5K boost to improve clarity.

I thought the guitars sounded good.

Sounds really good here. Nice warm presentation. Guitar sounds great. I bit mushy in the end, but I dig it. Nice work and great tune, reminds me of moondance.

Mike did a little more work last night - panned backups and rhythm and upped the 4K on the vocal. Uploaded a newer version. Just getting a little too much ess now so I suggested he try a de-esser from Sonar to try and tame that. Will post when that is working better.

Mike did a remix last night - let me know if this addresses the issues you found with the mix....

Cool tune. To me, the entire backing seems heavy. The Moondance vibe isn't coming through because it sounds like a heavy rock mix and the dance quality isn't coming through. I think it's actually the rhythm guitar, it needs to be more background and lighter. It's an excellent song, me likey.

Great work, guys! Except for the drummer, you guys are stellar. I'd probably bring the vocals up a bit more. I can hear the kick / bass just fine now.. Space is good, too. Kudos.

Sounds pretty good. Jason's drum sound has gotten better. There's some sub woof going on with the kick. The kick and bass are stacking up for some big low end. Maybe a little too big. I think I'd look to tighten up the kick. Nice guitar tones to me. Good vocals.

Very Van Morrison...or maybe not, I dont think I know any Van Morrison lol

Great these collabs are going strong...sounded good to me, level wise and performance were all good

Dunno why but I couldnt help thinking that the little electric licks would be better introduced in a later verse...I liked the rhythm on its own at parts, but what do I know

Great stuff fellas :)

Come on guys. Aside from the entire verses borrowing from Moondance, the friggin chorus is nearly identical to Moondance too. I knew what was coming before it happened. Even the stabs at the end are similar to the Moondance stabs. Too much plagiarism for my taste. Rhythm way to high. Sounds right for a bar band performance but if you listen to professional real eased songs, that guitar sound is not prominent. Decent song. Not my style bit then again, it is heavily borrowed. I would rewrite the chorus chords or something to move it away from the real Moondance. The snare sounds too high pitched or snappy for this song. Just my opinion. Good luck

Hey thanks for your review, we'll probably rewrite this completely because we wouldn't want Van Morison's lawyers on our case.

I was speaking to Van in the pub last night...boy is he pissed!!

Not to worry - we've removed all evidence of this song's existence. :)

I think he is afraid of you guys cutting into his royalties. Nothing personal, just needs to make sure the checks don't dwindle to nothing.

We were looking at a million dollar record deal with this song - guess we'll have to kiss that goodbye. :)
